The manuscript for this work is a poem attempting to describe a nature experience, while grappling with the fact we cannot experiencing anything purely or directly since all our sensory impressions are interpretations of that, which impresses itself on us. But instead of rejecting these impressions and their linguistic expressions as false, I consider them natural phenomena in their own right. Like the nest-building, tool-using animals we are, we develop languages that suit us, as vibrant communicational technologies.

The title introduces a new genre of senses, high hanging ones, other ways of registering the world. The work is performed as a linguistic gradient: from English to Danish Sign Language (DSL), from sound to silence and movement. In the beginning I speak English and gradually add signs from DSL, while saying still fewer words in English. In the end I transition fully to DSL and thus the performance shifts its address away from a hearing audience, towards a signing and often underrepresented audience. Using and mixing these two different types of language I wish to emphasise the ephemeral technology of language and our biased perception of it.
